[ARIE BAKER SOCIAL MEDIA POST 2nd July, 2024]
'The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.'
melindajj8's: OMG I read this book in 2 days while on holiday. I couldn’t put it down. Loved it, I felt as if I could feel every emotion in the story as if it was real. I have 2 daughters and have gone through a few issues with them around their teenage years and thankfully got through them. But as a mother you always feel and hope you have done enough to get them through that ugly stage of life. I was truly touched and emotional reading this book. Thank you and I hope it brings a lot of mothers to understand what teenagers are going through. Especially in today’s society as it’s the same but different.
ariebaker_author: @melindajj8 I was deeply moved by your heartfelt review. As an author and a mother there’s nothing more gratifying than knowing that my words have resonated with someone on a personal level. Thank you 🙏 🌟

[ARIE BAKER SOCIAL MEDIA POST 2nd APRIL 2024]
Celebrating resilience and hope, today marked two significant milestones for me - attending the commemoration of the 11th National Apology for Forced Adoptions - in addition to offering my submission for recognition at the State Library for the QLD Literacy Awards. An encounter that I will cherish which reminded me that there is love and strength within our community.

[ARIE BAKER SOCIAL MEDIA POST 21st MARCH, 2024]
As we approach the anniversary of The National Apology for Forced Adoptions on the 21st of March, I am humbled by the strength and resilience of each person who this deeply emotional journey has touched. This date marks a significant moment - a time to reflect, heal, and honor the stories that bind us together.
To those who have searched for their heritage, your quest is not merely a pursuit of names and places; it is an unwavering connection to your roots, a yearning for understanding, and a testament to the human spirit. The road you tread is often fraught with frustration, but remember that you are not alone.
Many of us have felt the weight of external forces, especially during our dealings with ‘The Department’ - the bureaucracy, the silence, the unanswered questions - as we navigate our way through the labyrinth of history. In the quiet moments, when memories echo and emotions surge, be kind to yourselves.
Extend that kindness to others who share this path. We are a community bound by invisible threads, woven from shared experiences and whispered hopes. Together, we hold space for healing, for remembrance, and for the promise that our stories matter.
You are seen. You are heard. You are not forgotten. 💕
With love and solidarity, Arie x

Inspiration through narrative; healing through the power of words!
'A woman recently shared that reading my book motivated her to start journaling her childhood trauma, and I'm filled with awe at the transformative power of words and the importance of sharing our stories.'
[ARIE BAKER SOCIAL MEDIA POST 27th FEBRUARY, 2024]
Listening to a book is sometimes better than reading it. Here I am in the studio, recording Finding Mary Jane and trying not to cry 😭 During the sadder parts, if you listen carefully, you can hear the emotion in my wobbly voice before I had to shout ‘cut’ and go grab myself a tissue. I got all the feels and so will you.

Where there is love there is hope ~ Arie x
I commenced writing this book in 2022 which just so happened to be the Year of the Tiger according to the Chinese zodiac. The same as the year I was born in 1974. The tiger is a symbol of strength, exorcising evils and braveness. I was born in August, which means I am a Leo and coincidentally the name ‘Arie’ in the Hebrew language means Lion.
♌️ 🦁 Yes, the universe was telling me that it was time – time to hear me roar!
There are no coincidences in Finding Mary Jane. Everything has a deeper hidden meaning. Even the date of publication, 27th November 2023, was chosen with deliberate care and attention to coincide with several auspicious dates, the first marking the anniversary of the Queensland Apology for past forced adoption practices.
On 27 November 2012, the Premier, the Honourable Campbell Newman MP, made an historic apology for past forced adoption policies and practices in Parliament, on behalf of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.
It is hoped that the official apology will help to:
ease some of the pain felt by people affected by past policies and practices and will help to facilitate the healing process.
make other Queenslanders aware of the history of forced adoption and the impact of past policies and practices on those who have been affected. Read the text of the apology here.
